A Move.

Today I am going to officially move my blog to our church website:

sccvb.org

I would like to try and blog based more on what I am teaching to our students, as much of that teaching coincides with how God is leading me.

Tumblr, you have been a good friend, but I have matured and you, well, are still tumblr. I appreciate your fondness for graphics, the blogs that I have followed, and all of the girl blogs that seem to make their way into my feed. Thank you old friend.

Treat your ears right. Listen to this album.

To Amanda…

I love you.

I love everything there is to love about you.

Yes, even the things that irk me to death, I love.

Because, they are you.  They make you the person you are.  And most of the time, you are right.

You have been right when I haven’t been such a great husband.  When I make poor, hasty choices that blow up in my face.  You have been right.

But, you aren’t right because you are right, you are right because you desire my best.  I believe you genuinely want me to succeed at being a husband and father, so when I mess up, it’s not I told you so, it’s I want you so.

You know sacrifice.

You know what it means to put your dreams on hold.  To wait patiently for me to come through and provide for you.  Or rather, to wait to see if my faith in God is really going to turn out to be the best path for us.  I love you for trusting in Him with me.

You know forgiveness.

I will always be blown away by the grace and forgiveness you have expressed to me.  An earthly example of God’s love for me.  No, you aren’t perfect, but you have forgiven much of me, just has He has forgiven much of you.  And there isn’t a better example of that to me than you.

In all the things I wanted in a wife, charm, beauty, smoking hotness, love, support, a sense of humor, the ability to “get” me, you possess them all.  From the day we met, I was enchanted by you.  I certainly did not love you then, but you have had my attention since.

In growing to learn to love you as Christ does, to lead you as Christ leads, I only hope that I can show you as much of Him as you have shown me.  You are my partner.  My help-mate.  My rib.  But not a McRib, cause honey, that would be weird.

I want you to know, publicly, that I love you.  Thank you for all that you have done for me, for our family. You continue to be “my favorite”.

Few things made Jesus angrier than the refusal to bear fruit. The one time he cursed, in fact, was at the sight of a fruitless fig tree. For Jesus it was not enough to call yourself a fig tree if you refused to bear figs, hoarding all those nutrients and enzymes to grow bigger bodies and more luxurious leaves. It was not enough to be a grapevine if you didn’t bear grapes.
Jesus made it clear that he was not interested in merely amassing crowds of people who declared themselves his followers. Simply to call him “Lord, Lord” was not enough. Jesus expected those who professed to produce.

Photo a day February.

Hands.

My wife makes these incredible cards for me with my daughters every time I go on a trip. I always get ones with hands drawn on them. It’s the best thing to receive these notes when I leave. I love them!
